Managing Notifications in Flow

How to Manage Notifications in Flow

Purpose: Control when and how you receive notifications about activity in Flow.

Two types of notifications:

A. Push notifications (when you are NOT in the app):

  • Standard phone notification

  • Shows who sent the message and the first line of the message

  • Tap the notification → opens the chat directly

B. In-app notifications (when you ARE in the app):

  • Small “bubble” that pops up at the top

  • Example: “Dan just messaged you – do you want to go there?”

  • Tap the bubble → jumps directly to the message

How to manage notification settings:

  1. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner

  2. Select “Settings”

  3. Select “Notifications”

  4. Choose your preferences:

    • Activity in all channels: Get notifications from all channels or only selected ones

    • When you are mentioned: Receive notification when someone tags you with @

    • When added to a channel: Notification when you are added as a member

    • Weekly email: Receive a weekly summary of activity in Flow

What triggers notifications:

  • Someone sends you a direct message

  • You are tagged in a message (@mention)

  • New post on a bulletin board

  • New message in a channel you follow

  • Someone replies to your post/message
