How to Create a Project Room

Purpose: Centralize all communication about a specific project in one place.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open Flow in the app

  2. Go to the “Projects” tab

  3. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner

  4. Select “Create Project Room”

  5. Choose the project the room will be created for

  6. Select which channels should be created automatically:

    • ✓ General channel (default for all project participants – recommended)

    • ✓ Discipline-specific channels (one channel per trade group, e.g., Concrete, Electrical, Flooring)

    • ✓ Subcontractor-specific channels (one channel per subcontractor)

  7. Tap “Save”

What happens:

  • The project room is created with:

    • A project bulletin board (functions like Posts but only for the project)

    • The selected channels

General channel:

  • Created automatically

  • All project participants are members

  • Cannot be deleted

Discipline-specific channels:

  • Only members of that specific trade group are included

  • Example: Only electricians in the Electrical channel

Subcontractor channels:

  • Direct communication with specific subcontractors

  • Example: Channel only for project manager + plumbing subcontractor

After creation:

  • You can create additional channels in the project room as needed

  • Use the project bulletin board for project-specific posts

  • Shortcut available to access the project directly from the project room

Typical use cases:

  • Project manager communicates daily updates

  • Electrical subcontractor asks questions in the Electrical channel

  • Foreman shares photos of completed work

  • Safety coordinator posts risk assessments on the project bulletin board
