Create a Channel

How to Create a Channel

Purpose: Ongoing communication across projects for specific groups.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open Flow in the app

  2. Go to the “Channels” tab

  3. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner

  4. Select “Create Channel”

  5. Give the channel a name (e.g., “Safety,” “Management,” “Friday Ride”)

  6. (Optional) Choose whether others can add members to the channel

  7. Invite members:

    • Select specific users

    • More members can be added later

  8. Tap “Create”

After the channel is created:

  • Only invited members can see the channel

  • You can send messages like in other conversations

  • You can add more members later (if you have permission)

  • The channel can be marked as a favorite

Difference from Posts:

  • Posts: One-to-many communication to the entire company

  • Channels: Ongoing conversations in smaller, targeted groups across projects

Typical use cases:

  • Safety channel: QHSE manager and all foremen discuss safety procedures

  • Management channel: Only management communicates about strategic decisions

  • Friday Ride: Social channel for those who cycle together

  • Legislation: Channel where the compliance officer shares updates on new regulations

  • New Onboarding: HR and new employees during the introduction period
