How to find the "Import Projects" feature
Your Projects ➜ Project Overview ➜ Import Projects
Download and fill out the Excel file
When you click on "Import Projects" in the Project Overview, a pop-up window will open, allowing you to download or upload the Excel file.
Click on "Download Template File in Excel" to get the template you need to fill out to use the "Import Projects" feature.
Fill out the Excel-file with all the projects you want to create/import in Inspectly.
Pay attention to the criteria in the template and ensure that Excel does not automatically change the format in some fields, which can happen for some users – for example, regarding how the date is formatted.
Mandatory information:
- Case Number: The project's case number, which must be unique
- Name: The name the project will be called in Inspectly
Additional information:
- Description: A description of the project itself
- Active: Whether the project is created as Active (1) or Inactive (0); if not specified, the project will be set as active
- Address: The address where the project takes place
- Date (from and to): The period during which the project runs (if not specified, the start date is set to today's date)
Import projects via Excel file:
Your Projects ➜ Project Overview ➜ Import Projects ➜ Upload the filled-out Excel file in step 2 ➜ Optionally select Project Template ➜ Click on "Import"
Once you have filled out and saved the Excel file on your PC, you can upload the file via "Import Projects".
If you do not select any project template when importing projects via Excel file, the projects will only be created with the information specified in the Excel file, as well as any users and checklists where the setting "Automatically attach to new projects" is selected.
If you encounter issues with your file being rejected or similar, you should double-check it for compliance with the criteria described under "Download and fill out the Excel file" in this article.
Use a Project Template for Importing
If you want the projects in the Excel file to be created based on a project template, you can specify which one you want to use in step 3 "Select a Project Template."
All projects in the Excel file will then be created using the selected template during the import, where checklists, task types, users, etc., are already set up and tailored to the specific template. This way, they do not need to be attached/adjusted afterward, and the project is ready to use!
